Alan Ray Nelson, 55, formerly of Calhoun County, entered into eternal rest Friday December 11, 2009 at Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs, WV where he had been a resident since 2004. He was born Tuesday July 12, 1955 in Gassaway, WV, a son of the late Maynard E. and Manda C. Martin Nelson. Alan attended the schools of Calhoun County. He had been employed as a general laborer in the construction trade. He enjoyed carpentry work very much. He enjoyed fishing and being in the outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Harlan E. Nelson and Harley E. Nelson. Alan’s survivors include one daughter: Misty Dawn Nelson and one son: Alan “AJ” Nelson both of Chloe, WV; three sisters: Betty Lou Sisson and husband Richard of Chloe, Vivian Sue Carmichael and husband Bryan of Ravenswood and Flista Hope Hanshaw and husband Russell of West Salem, OH; two brothers: Donald Lee Nelson and wife Martha and Richard Dale Nelson all of Chloe and several nieces and nephews. At Alan’s request his body will be cremated.
