Allen Bruce “Buss” Roy, age 79, a resident of Lost Creek, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Ruby Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Buss was born Tuesday, May 13, 1941, in Elkins, a son of the late Bruce and Beryl Mae Weese Roy. On January 23, 1963, “Buss” married the former Shirley Christine Shreve who preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his only child, Allen “Dean” Roy, and wife Vida of Lost Creek, two grandsons, Dustin and wife Nikki of Weston, Ohio, and Cody Roy of Lost Creek, one brother, Gary Roy and wife Judy of Elkins and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding “Buss” in death besides his beloved wife and his parents was one sister, Loretta Knotts.

Buss entered the United States Army on June 16, 1959. He completed his Combat Training and Advanced Infantry Training at Fort Hood, Texas. Following this, he graduated from Jump School at Fort Bragg, NC. He was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division of which he was a very proud member. The parachutist was among other personnel who participated in the Exercise Puerto Pine in Puerto Rico which includes the largest Peace Time Air Lift ever attempted at that time. He also served in Korea as a K-9 handler and mortarman for 18 months. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the rank of Spec4 before being honorably discharged. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. Buss attended Davis and Elkins College and received his Associates Degree in Science.
He loved spending time with his son Dean, and grandsons, Dustin and Cody. He loved the holidays and the family gatherings, especially the food. He especially loved birthday cakes. He loved watching western cowboy movies. He liked to sing and play his guitar. He got so much enjoyment from watching his grandsons grow up in sports and at their games. He also loved the Steelers. He enjoyed eating out with his grandson, loved hotdogs and eating at “Scotties” in Elkins. Buss loved his adopted cat “Tommy” and he always told Tommy he was a “Good Boy!” even though he would spill his coffee and claw on him. He was a Christian by faith and dedicated to the Lord. Buss will be missed by many and will never be forgotten. You will always be in our hearts. We Love You!

Visitation will be held at Randolph Funeral Home Saturday, January 23, 2021, from 11 am until 1 pm, the funeral hour.
