Allen Ford Nestor 1941-2021 Obituary
Allen Ford Nestor was a caring father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He left this world peacefully on November 18, 2021, at the age of 80, surrounded by his family after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Ford was born on October 16, 1941, at home near St. George, West Virginia to Lecy (Wilmoth) and Kenneth Bliss Nestor. On June 28, 1968, at St. John’s United Methodist Church at Parsons, WV, he was married to the former Eleanor Louise (Harper) Nestor, who survives. They had celebrated fifty-three years of marriage. Also surviving are children Eric and wife, Cathy (Chisler) Nestor of Blacksville, WV, Cheryl and husband, Charles DeBerry of Oakland, MD and Kenny and wife, Stacie (Carter) Nestor of Hendricks, WV. He was a proud and loving “Pops” to three grandchildren, Allen Nestor, Oli DeBerry and Carla DeBerry.
He is also survived by four brothers, Robert “Bob” and wife Pattie Nestor, Billy “Bill” and wife, Renee Nestor, John and wife Diana Nestor, Tommy and wife, Amy Nestor, and two sisters, Addie Sinclair (and husband Jim, now deceased), and Betty and husband, Reverend David Turner, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Parsons High School in the class of 1958. Ford joined the United States Army where he served 1961-63 as a draftsman and obtained status of Marksman on the pistol team, winning hundreds of competitions, and awards.
He graduated from the Nashville Auto Diesel College in 1970 and was hired by the Tucker County Board of Education and started driving school bus. During his 28 years of full-time and then 10 years of substitute bus driving, he helped positively influence the lives of countless children and young adults as he hauled them to and from ball games and school.
He will be remembered as a tall man with a healthy sense of humor, a generous heart, and a strong commitment to friends and family.
His request for cremation was honored. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. The family appreciates the care provided by Mountain Hospice. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to your favorite cause.
