Arnold Robert “Bob” Leary Sr. 1935-2021 Obituary
Arnold Robert “Bob” Leary Sr., 86, a resident of Beverly, passed from this life Monday, November 29, 2021, at home with family by his side and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Bob was born Saturday, October 19, 1935, in Elkins, a son of the late Charles Joseph Leary and Irene Gennett Yankee Leary Bender. He was married twice, first to Sylvia Harris who survives and then to Bonnie Lamp who preceded him in death in 2008.
Left to cherish his memory are fifteen children, Bobby and David Leary, Jerry Leary and wife Michelle, John Leary, Loretta Leary and companion Matt, Christina Leary and husband Dave, Barbara Fusselman and husband Bill, Wayne and Pam Harris, Twylla Tasker, Michael Ware and wife Judy, Keith Ware, Shelby Fultz, Rhonda Rix, and Texi Kline, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, eight siblings, Arthur, Austin, and Charles Leary, Paul and John Bender, Josephine Wingfield, Margaret Jean Robinson, Helena Bowrey, and his beloved dog, Toby.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and second wife were four children, Steven Leary, Penny Moore, Eddie Ware, and Kathryn Moore, and one brother, Clarence Leary.
Bob started working in the coal mines at the age of sixteen. He retired from Island Creek Coal Company. Bob enjoyed hunting and watching NASCAR with his son Jerry. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bob’s live-in caregivers, Terry Noyles and Dennis. They not only took care of Bob, but they were good friends to him.
Bob’s request for cremation was honored and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
