AVA M. CAMPBELL Ava Marie Campbell, 83, of Locust Avenue, Philippi, died Thursday morning, August 12, in the United Hospital Center, Clarksburg. She was born October 23, 1926, at Mt. Nebo community, Upshur County, a daughter of the late Albert and Clarice Fanny (Shaw) Boyles. On August 14, 1971, she was married to Odbert “Lee” Campbell, who survives at their Locust Avenue home along with her surviving brother, Albert Junior Boyles. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ada Board, Myrtle Fridley and Hazel Bartlett and by two brothers, Bobby Boyles and Orville Boyles. Mrs. Campbell was a long-time employee of the Barbour Department Store in Philippi. She was Methodist and, in her youth, had attended the Bethel United Methodist Church, near Volga. She was an avid gardener and bingo player. She enjoyed gong to the “mall” on Sunday afternoons and attending area fairs and festivals. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 15, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Tim Bleigh, pastor of the Crim Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Sunday.
