Avis Beer Reed, age 91, of Buckhannon, WV, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at her home. She was born July 15, 1921 in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Forest “Dutch” and Amy Pearl Craven Beer. On November 9, 1946 she married Dean Max Reed who survives. Also surviving are two sons Terry Reed and wife Laura of Buckhannon and Rodney Reed and wife Debbie of Dubai, UAE; three grandsons, Mark Reed of Buckhannon, Tyler and Jordan Reed both of Nashville, TN; four granddaughters, Kimberly Reed of Washington, D.C., Allison Reed and husband Sam Garza of Nashville, Meghan Reed of Shepherdstown, WV and Ashley Reed of Arlington, VA and one sister Evelyn Riffle of Buckhannon. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Judy Butcher, and three brothers, Lyndon, Zane and Robert Beer. Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeff Zickefoose and Rev. Donald Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Hope Cemetery Fund c/o Arita Wilfong, Rt. 6 Box 634-1, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
