Bernice C. Moore Weese Trahern, 96, a former resident of 920 South Davis Ave., Elkins, and more recently a resident of Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, departed this life at 11:50 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at the center. She had been in declining health for the past several weeks.
She was born Saturday, Feb. 3, 1906, at Belington, a daughter of the late Wade H. Moore and Dora Edmond Moore.
She was twice married. First, to Dolph Weese, who preceded her in death. Second, during 1946, she was married to Paul H. Trahern, who preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1989.
Surviving are one son, Edward “Jake” Weese, East Liverpool, Ohio; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one son, Guy Weese; two brothers, Byrd and Bretsel Moore; and one sister, Martha L. Hanger.
She attended the schools of Barbour County. She was a cook for the Elkins Lodge No. 1135, BPOE and was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
