Bertha Belle White 1931-2002 Obituary
Bertha Belle Youtzy White, 71, a former resident of 100 Glendale Ave., Elkins, and for the past year, a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home at Crystal Springs, departed this life early Friday morning, Dec. 20, 2002, at the nursing home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to complications from diabetes.
She was born Sunday, Dec. 13, 1931, at Cravensdale, a daughter of the late Paul Theodore Youtzy and Margaret Alice Summerfield Youtzy.
She was formerly married to Lester White and Patrick Wawsczyk.
Surviving are one son, Jason Theodore White, Elkins; three daughters, Virginia R. Johnson, Kerens, Paula F. Arbogast, Elkins, and Lisa L. Cogar, Morgantown; four sisters, Beulah Marie Carr, Elkins, Pearl Ruth Godden, Quinton, Va., Thelma Elizabeth Bennett, Harrisonburg, Va., and Geraldine Gladwell, Hopewell, Va.; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special niece whom Mrs. White helped to raise, Roberta Dawson Harper, Fairmont.
She was preceded in death by two infant sons, one daughter, Linda Belle White; one brother, Donald Lee Youtzy; and four sisters, Madeline Youtzy, Mary Nair, Dorothy Riffle and Jacqueline Summerfield.
She attended the schools of Randolph County, was a waitress for many years and last worked as a Taxi Cab Driver in Elkins, having worked for the ABC Cab Co., and attended the Whitmer Church of God.
Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Sunday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Walter H. Blough will officiate and interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery at Job. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, N.Y. 10605.
