Bertha Long, 68, formerly of Beverly and more recently of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, died at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday morning, Jan. 8, 2002. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to complications of Parkinson Disease.
Ms. Long was born April 1, 1933, in Boswell, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank Long and Mary Plum Long.
Surviving are a son, Robert Wortman and wife, Sherry, New Milford, Conn.; three daughters, Helen Burleson, Johnson City, Tenn., Sharon Weiland and husband, Rich, Birmingham, Ala., and Theresa Chapin and husband, Darin, Jasper, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Wotring, and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) M. Gotinsky, all of Shavers Fork Road, Kerens; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Wortman; two brothers, Frank W. Long and Roy D. Long; and five sisters, Georgie Long, Alberta Poveromo, Dessie Haube, Edith Scott and India Brown.
Ms. Long attended the Porterwood School in Porterwood and Parsons High School. She received an AA degree as a medical assistant. She was an employee of Downtown General Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., as a medical administrative secretary.
She was a Protestant by faith.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home parlor Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. John Glessner officiating. Interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons.
