BETTY JANE KERR LEWIS, age 86 years, a resident of Beverly, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning, March 9, 2011 at her home.
She was born Saturday, January 10, 1925 at Bemis, WV a daughter of the late Orval E. Kerr and Jessie Lucy Louk Kerr. On June 1, 1946 at Elkins, WV she was married to Charles Junior Lewis, who preceded her in death November 9, 2007. Surviving are three sons: Richard “Dick” Lewis and wife Anita, Ada, Okla; John Lynn Lewis and wife Helen and Terry Keith Lewis and wife Terri, all of Beverly; two daughters: Carol Sue Hatley and husband Jerry, Beverly; Tammy Joy Rich and husband Donald, Wymer; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; and her loving care-giver Rebecca Moses.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death are one son, Charles Joe Lewis; five brothers: Oscar; Earl; Alfred; Kenneth and Raymond Kerr and six sisters: Martha Ricketts; Eunice Sharps; Rita Roberts; Dorothy White; Hilda Runner and Mary Elza.
Betty attended the schools of Randolph County, was a homemaker, enjoyed fishing, and was a Methodist by faith.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Friday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11 AM. The Rev. Michael Ford will officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
