BETTY JEAN PHILLIPS FOX, age 78 years, a resident of Parsons, WV, departed this life Wednesday evening, May 29, 2013 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins, WV.
She was born Friday, April 26, 1935 at Clover Run near St. George, WV, a daughter of the late Clay and Margaret Phillips. On September 4, 1954 at Parsons, WV, she was married to Harold Harrison Fox, who preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1998. They had celebrated forty four years of marriage.
Surviving are one son, Harold “Butch” Fox, Jr.; two daughters, Gloria Ann Fox and Pamela Fox Bonner and husband Terry; one brother, Edward J. Phillips and wife Sharon, all of Parsons; five granddaughters, Ashley, Deena, Heather and Taylor; one grandson, Scott and four great grandsons, James, Dane, Gunner and Jase.
She attended the Montgomery Grade School in Smithers, the Parsons Grade School, and was a Graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1953. She was an employee of the former Tucker Co. Hospital and the former News & Novelty. She was a Secretary for the Tucker Co. Board of Education, working at the former Parsons Grade School and Tucker Valley Elementary School, where she retired. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Women’s. She was a member of the Hamrick C.E.O,’s. She loved to plant and care for her flowers and enjoyed crafts.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Sunday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 11:30AM. The Rev. Jeff Anderson will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
