Betty Jean Simon Conrad, age 86 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Monday afternoon, February 22, 2021 at Davis Medical Center at Elkins, WV.
She was born Thursday, February 14, 1935 at Junior, WV a daughter of the late Wallace and Ruby Phillips Simon. On February 13, 1971 at MD she was married to Retired Army Colonel Herman A. Conrad, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Lori Robinson Haines of Plantation, FL, Allen W. Conrad of Elkins, William Conrad and wife Lauris of Turlock, CA, Suzanne Grazier of Tampa, FL, Jerry Daniel Simon and wife Carrie of Akron, OH, Michael K. Simon and wife Allicen of Elkins; sixteen grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death are her former husband, James Robinson; and two brothers, Keith Simon and Jerry Simon.
Betty was a graduate and Valedictorian of the Coalton High School Class of 1953, and had worked as a Civilian Technical Editor for the U. S. Department of the Navy for twenty years. She had served as the Girl Scout Cookie Coordinator for Randolph County for five years, and was Co-owner of Conrad’s Antiques & Collectibles since 1981. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins.
Mrs. Conrad’s request for cremation was honored. A Graveside Service will be held at Phillips Cemetery at Jimtown, WV on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11 AM. The Rev. Brian Seders and The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and inurnment will follow. Due to COVID 19, mask and social distancing are required.
