Betty Lucille Flanagan, 65, a resident of 301 Hetzel Ave., in Belington, was pronounced deceased upon arrival at the Broaddus Hospital in Philippi at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2002. She had been in declining health for the past several weeks and death was attributed to cancer.
She was born April 21, 1936, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Howard Porter and Bertha Virginia Ware Wagner.
She was twice married. First, she married Lambert Poling, who preceded her in death. Second, on March 15, 1975, she married Earl M. Flanagan, who survives at their home in Belington.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Philip Poling and wife, Jennifer, Belington; three daughters, Nancy Curkendall and husband, Charlie, Belington, Sue Skidmore and husband, Scott, Belington, and Cathy D. Flanagan, Belington; five grandchildren, Ian and Logan Smithson, Gunner and Jenna Poling and Tristan Skidmore; and two stepgrandchildren, Cody and Trahern Curkendall.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Gary Michael Skidmore and Jacob Edward Flanagan; one infant son, one brother, Donnie Wagner, and one infant sister. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Flanagan was a graduate of Belington High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary Southern Baptist Church in Belington.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and Thursday until 11 a.m. at which time she will be moved to Calvary Southern Baptist Church in Belington, where friends may call from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. David Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Fraternal Cemetery in Belington.
