Bobby B. Hollen, 79, a resident of 108 Hall St., Philippi, passed away at 5:18 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital.
He was born Oct. 26, 1922, at Philippi, a son of the late Blonda Sr. and Grace Beohm Hollen.
He was united in marriage on Nov. 7, 1942, to the former Helen Eloise Ashby, who preceded him in death on March 19, 2001.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Bruce and wife, Lorna Tenney Hollen, 108 Hall St., Philippi; and three brothers, Kermit C. Hollen, Kyle M. Hollen and Blonda Hollen Jr., all of Philippi.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Billie S. Hollen.
He retired as a regional service technician for Columbia Gas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Air Corp.
He was a former member of Bigelow Lodge AF & AM, a member and past president of Philippi Lions Club, past member of Barbour County Board of Education, an in-active member of the Philippi Fire Department and a member of the American Legion Post 44.
He worked with the drug abusers program. He was a member of Crim Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as adult Sunday School Teacher and served on the finance committee and was a member of the prayer group.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi after 5 p.m. today. The American Legion Post 44 will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gary and Alicia Rapking officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with the American Legion Post 44 conducting military rites.
