The first appearance of ‘Slide of the Month’ – Boy’s Life finally got the right combination – A Slide that every wanted to make, a regular column, and Whittlin Jim(W Ben Hunt)
Making slides was becoming popular, and this monthly column help to support and sustain the popularity of making slides
Definitely a little harder to make then a lot of the slide up to this point, but mostly certainly within the reach of the skills of most scouts, it might require parental help, but parents involved in helping their scout is always a good thing
These articles led to a monthly column in Boy’s Life – The Slide of the Month by Whittlin Jim Column
W Ben Hunt created the Whittlin Jim and Lone Eagle names, and published articles under all three name – Ben Hunt wrote 2-4 articles per month for Boy’s Life, and I think he created the Whittlin Jim and Lone Eagle to make is seem like there were multiple authors writing the articles
