Teaching silverssmithing to scouts was pretty innovative, and its not something in the main stream today
A great learning experience for scouts – and I consider this a great example of the goal of scouting – expose scouts to as many different activities, hobbies and possible careers as possible so the scouts will know what out there waiting for them in the real world and let the scouts find out what they are interested in
Not sure why Whittlin Jim reverted to Ben Hunt for this months slide – I guess he had not settled on which of his characters would be the main author of the slide of the month yet, or possibly Ben Hunt was just looking for variety
These articles led to a monthly column in Boy’s Life – The Slide of the Month by Whittlin Jim Column
W Ben Hunt created the Whittlin Jim and Lone Eagle names, and published articles under all three name – Ben Hunt wrote 2-4 articles per month for Boy’s Life, and I think he created the Whittlin Jim and Lone Eagle to make is seem like there were multiple authors writing the articles
