Carol Ralph “Bub” “Smitty” Smith 1939-2011 Obituary
Carol Ralph “Bub” “Smitty” Smith, age 72, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday morning, November 30, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 21, 1939 at Cassity, WV a son of the late Delpha and Gertrude Zirkle Smith.
Surviving are one son, Gregory Ralph Smith, Waynesboro, VA, two daughters, Diettra Dawn “Dee Dee” Smith, Harrisonburg, VA and Lisa Morene Smith Antoline and husband Mike of Elkins. One brother, Leonard Smith of Rootstown, OH, three sisters, Virginia Cutright of Belington, Janice Markley of Coalton and Eva Markley of Mabie and three grandchildren, Kylie Morgan Antoline and Jacob Michael Antoline and Hannah Sinclaire Smith and Mr. Smith’s faithful companions, Lucy and Fluffy also survive. Also preceding him in death was one brother, James Smith and one sister, Doris Arnold.
Mr. Smith attended the schools of Randolph County and was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Davis Memorial Hospital for many years. He was a loving father and “Papaw” and enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 4, 2011 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Nancy Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Carol Ralph “Bub” Smitty” Smith.
