Carolyn Tyre Queen Moore -2021 Obituary
On Jan. 1, 2021, Carolyn Tyre Queen Moore, Suzi, to her friends, passed away at the age of 78.
A native of Elkins, Suzi was committed community volunteer her entire life. She was most proud of being the first female director general of the Mountain State Forest Festival after years of service to the organization in various capacities such as Director of the Queen’s Court.
In honor of her mother, who was a nurse for a number of years, Suzi was a strong advocate for nurses and patient care while she served on the Davis Health System Board of Directors and on the Davis Health System Foundation where she was proud to help distribute scholarships to high school seniors attending higher education.
She was also a real estate agent and an officer of Becky’s Creek Resort.
Suzi was the daughter of Holly and Glenn Tyre and preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Queen and Don Moore.
Suzi is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca Robinette, her husband, Darren, Kati Everett and her husband, Todd; grandchildren, Kevin, Lindsey, Jake and Delaney; and great-granddaughter Samantha.
The beauty of the mountains of West Virginia brought tears to her eyes and her deep friendships kept her close to Elkins. She was known by many as a good cook especially cookies at Christmas, her favorite holiday. She was passionate about animals, especially the many dogs and horses she owned and met along the way.
A celebration of Suzi’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins with the Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating.
Memorial donations in memory of Suzi can be made to the Davis Health System Foundation Scholarship Fund, PO Box 1188, Elkins, WV 26241 or the First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Ave., Elkins, WV 26241.
