Carroll Earnest “Newt” Shifflett 1936-2018 Obituary
Carroll Earnest “Newt” Shifflett, age 82 years, a former resident of Elkins, WV and more recently a resident of Moundsville, WV departed this life early Monday morning, July 23, 2018 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV with his loving family at his side.
He was born Wednesday, April 29, 1936 at Mill Creek, WV a son of the late Earnest Carroll and Florida F. Tackett Shifflett. On May 7, 1973 at Winchester, VA he was married to the former Kay Frances Carpenter, who preceded him in death November 21, 2004. Surviving are one son, Carroll Earnest Shifflett, Jr., and wife Cindy; three daughters, Carol Ann Bortle, Christina Kay Shifflett, and Retta Ann Daugherty; one sister, Marcella Moore; nine grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are four brothers, Richard, Percy, Roy, and Oran Shifflett; four sisters, Vennie McDonald, Nellie Wood, Myrtle Shifflett, and Virginia Shifflett; and one grandchild.
He attended the schools of Randolph County and had worked construction with the Laborers Union retiring in 1996.
Mr. Shifflett’s request for cremation was honored. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Teter Creek Lake, Route # 92, Belington, WV 26250 from 12 Noon till 2 PM.
