Charles “Chuck” Winkler Sr., 62, of 25 Carol St., Buckhannon, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
Mr. Winkler was born Sept. 13, 1939, in Ohio, a son of Mary Willison Winkler, who survives in Coshocton, Ohio, and the late Emmett Winkler.
On June 13, 1959, he married Betty Underwood Winkler, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Zickefoose and Karen Peeso, both of Buckhannon; a son, Charles Winkler Jr., Orange, Va.; four grandsons, David Hamner Jr. and Josh Simons, both of Buckhannon, Charles T. Winkler and Seth Winkler, both of Orange, Va.; two granddaughters, Crystal Miller, Canton, Ohio, and Misty Miller, Buckhannon; a great-grandson, Cyrus, Buckhannon; and a great-granddaughter, Charity, Canton, Ohio.
Mr. Winkler was a self-employed contractor. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was a member of Frank B. Bartlett Post 7, American Legion and Upshur Co. Chamber of Commerce.
He was a Methodist by faith.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received at Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Interment will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
