Obituary: CHARLES D. NORRIS Charles Donald Norris, 81, of Norris Ridge Rd., Philippi, died Saturday, April 14, at his home. He had been in declining health but his death was unexpected. He was born November 28, 1930, at Philippi a son of the late Cleveland “Clee” and Lucille (Croston) Norris. On August 24, 1957, he married the former Nina Lee Kennedy, who preceded him in death on March 17, 2005. Surviving are one daughter, Sonia Poel, Philippi; three sons, Kenneth Mayle and Loutricia, Canton, Marvin Mayle and wife, Cindy, Elwood City, PA, Danny Mayle and wife, Mickey, Philippi; one brother, Herbert L. Norris and wife, Viola, Philippi and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dinah Lucille Norris; by two sisters, Thelma Mayle and Blonda Miner and by three brothers, Robert Norris, Burl Norris and Harold R. Norris. Mr. Norris was retired from Hathaway Construction Co. He was an avid hunter and particularly enjoyed hunting deer, turkey and small game. He was a member of Peoples Chapel Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 18, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 So. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. Ruston Seaman and Pastor Marvin Mayle will officiate and interment will follow in the Norris Family Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Wednesday. Stemple & Forman Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
