CHARLES ROBERT “CHARLIE” SKIDMORE, age 64 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Friday evening, September 16, 2011 at the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center at Elkins.
He was born Friday, May 16, 1947 at Elkins, WV a son of the late Cloyd B. and Mary Ann Virginia Yeager Skidmore. On October 23, 1993 at Elkins, WV he was married to the former Darlene Ora Winans, who survives. Also surviving are one step son, Marc David Bryan and wife Jessica, NC; one step daughter, Kara Darlene Carpenter and husband Steve, WV; one brother, Jack Morgan Skidmore, Follansbee; one sister, Mary Lynn Fessler and husband John, Beverly; and six grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are one step son, Christopher Bryan.
Charlie attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked at the former Memorial General Hospital and was an Emergency Medical Technician for the Randolph County Emergency Squad for twenty-seven years retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Elkins Lodge # 1135, B.P.O.E., the Jaycee’s, the Saint Brendan Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council # 603.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Tuesday. On Tuesday, at 7:00 PM at the funeral home, a wake service will be conducted by the Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF. On Wednesday, September 21, 2011, Mr. Skidmore will be moved to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, VF will be the Presider and interment will follow at the Saint Brendan Cemetery at Elkins, WV.
