Christine M. Sell 1922-2002 Obituary
Christine M. Sell, 80, formerly of West Park Avenue, Westover, died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at Smithley’s Personal Care Home in Mt. Morris, Pa.
She was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Millard Goff and Margaret McGee Britton.
She was a former director of the Morgantown Senior Center, served on the boards of the Fairmont District United Methodist Women from 1963 to 1967 and 1971 to 1974 and was the former president of the Scott’s Run Settlement House. She was an active member of the Westover United Methodist Church since 1951, formerly serving in the adult choir, as a Sunday school teacher, president of the Westover United Methodist Women from 1965 to 1968, director of the Children’s Choir and Acolyte director.
She is survived by one daughter, Bonnie D. Sell of Buckhannon; one son, Charles C. Sell of Westover; one daughter-in-law, Roselee Sell of Greensboro, Pa.; one sister, Virginia Spangler of Monet, Va.; six grandchildren, Richard A. Sell and Deborah A. Bice, both of Greensboro, Pa., Gregg Sell of Mt. Morris, Tracy L. Sell Chico of Morgantown, Beth A. Jundt of Andover, Minn, and Robert S. Iden Jr. of Nitro; and eight great-grandchildren, Kenny, Kayla, Jon, Chad, Ben, Mylana, Trey and Lauren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth L. Sell in 1993; her eldest son, Kenneth E. Sell; three brothers, Robert A. Britton, Emil D. Britton and Paul W. Britton; two sisters, Claris L. Helmick and Freda L. DePalma; and one great-grandson, Samuel.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the Westover United Methodist Church Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Violet Potso officiating. Burial will follow in Beverly Hills Cemetery.
