Clarence McCauley, 81, a former resident of Norton, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at 2:30 p.m. at Nella’s Inc. at Crystal Springs, where he had been a resident since September 2001.
He was born June 4, 1920, at Grafton, a son of the late Burl and Virginia Reeder McCauley.
He was united in marriage to the former Lily Dale Thomason, who preceded him in death on March 6, 1971.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Lonnie Keener of Norton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by three brothers, Claude, Cletus and Clyde McCauley.
Mr. McCauley was the last person to leave Montgomery Wards, having worked as a maintenance and delivery person for several years. He retired in 1983. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He received a degree from the architectural school in Hawaii. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Sunday after 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Monday at 11 a.m. Bishop Lynn Muhlestein, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, will officiate. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. in the W.Va. Grafton National Cemetery at Grafton, where full military services will be accorded by the VFW Post 3081, DAV Chapter 12 and the American Legion No. 24 all of Grafton.
