Clarence “Ralph” Matthey, age 75, of Buckhannon, WV died Friday, August 20, 2010 at his home. He was born October 27, 1934 in Salem, WV, a son of the late Clarence Ames and Sylvia Utter Matthey. On June 3, 1961 he married Naomi Kay Perine who survives. Also surviving are one son, Bruce Ralph Matthey and wife Denise of Buckhannon; one daughter, Anissa Kay Spencer and husband Ashley of Kanawha Head, WV; two grandsons, Joshua Ames Matthey of Buckhannon and Nathan Ryan Spencer of Kanawha Head; two granddaughters, Kayla Marie Matthey of Buckhannon and Sarah Beth Wilt of Ellamore, WV; two brothers, Claude Matthey of Virginia and Cassel Matthey and wife Betty of Lumberport, WV; two sisters, Margaret Hurst of Paden City, WV and Carol Dzuranin and husband Mike of OH and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Alice Hurst Matthey and one stepbrother, Bazil Hurst. Mr. Matthey was a Lineman for Monongahela Power Company and a member of the Hephzibah Baptist Church in Hephzibah, WV. He was a Lifetime Member of the NRA, the WV Trappers Association and a former member of West Union Vol. Fire Dept. He served in the US Army in Alaska and enjoyed the outdoors especially bear and deer hunting and trapping and fishing. Friends will be received Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 6-9 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. and the Rev. Jeff Zickefoose officiating.
