Mr. Coy Davis, age 91 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 in the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center. He had been in declining health. He was born September 1, 1919 at Onego, WV a son of the late Ira and Margaret “Fanny” Conrad Davis. He was married four times, first to Gathel Morral Davis, to Donnis Poling Davis, to Mary Ellen Conrad Davis and to Beatrice Jones Davis all of whom preceded him in death. Surviving are five children, Judy Ann Boyers and husband Doug, Weyers Cave, VA, Wanda Jean Wetherell and husband Mack, Weyers Cave, VA., Jerry Lee Davis and wife Linda, Elkins, Rita Faye Davis, Montrose and David Matthew Davis of Elkins. Also surviving are one sister, Effie George, Harrisonburg, VA, thirteen grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Sara Jane Haymond Anacher, two sisters, Zona Turner and Elsie Helmick, two brothers, Doris Davis and Floyd Davis and a step son William H. Kerr.
Mr. Davis was employed as a Coal Miner for many years and as a foreman for Kelley Foundry for many years prior to his retirement.
Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Saturday, April 23rd he will be moved to the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman where a graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM. Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Coy Davis.
