Dale Edwin Riley 1943-2020 Obituary
Dale Edwin Riley, 77, of Ashtabula, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 20th, 2020, at Cleveland Metro Health Trauma Center.
Dale was born in Hadley, Pennsylvania on July 22, 1943, the son of Raymond and Sylvia (Stevens) Riley and graduated in 1961 from Commodore Perry High School where he was a track star.
Dale is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force; joining in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1965.
On August 4th, 1995, Dale married his wife, Dolores “Dee” Riley. Dale and Dee celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on August 4th, 2020.
Their marriage was one of love, admiration and mutual respect.
They created many cherished memories which are now treasures of the heart. One of Dale’s earliest jobs was at Schaefer Equipment in Warren, Ohio.
He also was employed with Standard Oil of Ohio, Murphy’s Mart and Pace Pontiac as a mechanic.
He later went to work at General Electric Trumbull Lamp Plant in Warren.
After the plant closing in Warren, Dale transferred to and retired from GE Base Plant in Conneaut.
He was a dedicated employee and was well respected by his peers. Dale was a member Elks #208 and along with Dee they were members of the ATV Traction Club. Dale was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Fishing for perch on Lake Erie with his friends always made great stories to share.
He enjoyed walks in the woods his canine buddy, Angel. Dale was an avid lifetime bowler who bowled several perfect 300 games.
He bowled with friends at various Ashtabula, Conneaut and Jefferson area bowling lanes.
Dale will be remembered as a generous person with a large heart.
He would help anyone no matter what the request.
The mention of his name will bring smile to your face and laughter to your heart. Dale is survived by his beloved wife Dee Riley; his son, David Riley; step daughter, Karen (Thomas) Cunningham; step grandchildren, Eric and Kathleen Cunningham; sisters, Barb (Gary) Kingen, Joyce Kaultenbaugh; many loving nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Barbara Riley.
Dale was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Merianne Riley; his siblings, Walter, Robert, Homer, Victor, Wilber, and Lily; and his parents.
Visitation will from 4PM until 6PM, Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the Zaback-Williams-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect Road, Ashtabula, Ohio. Elks Memorial services will be held at 6:00PM with Military Honors to follow which will be provided by the American Legion, Dewey Howlett Post #103.
