David Bert Lanham, age 53 years, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 in the Davis Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 4, 1958 in Elkins a son of the late Percy Lanham and the late Evelyn Taylor Bucher. He was married to Sheryl Hammonds Lanham who survives at Huttonsville. Also surviving is his step-mother, Bonnie Lanham, Mill Creek, two sons, David E. Lanham and Sarah Currence and Daniel B. Lanham and Lorraine all of Huttonsville. A daughter, Niketa Lanham, Mill Creek, five brothers, John Lanham and wife Lynn, Preston Lanham and wife Marsha and Rocky Lanham all of Mill Creek, Percy Lanham and wife Elizabeth, Dailey, Ricky Hammonds and wife Michelle and four grandchildren, Kileigh, Tyler, David and Kaitlinn Lanham also survive.
David was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School and was employed as a Miner for United Coal Company at the time of his death. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and he loved spending time with his brothers and grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, September 4th from the funeral home chapel with Rev. William “Wink” Lanham officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery near Hemlock. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Olive Church, c/o Carolyn Carpenter, HC 76 Box 116, Helvetia, WV 26224 in memory of David.
