David Howard “Dave” Pingley, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, passed away peacefully Friday, June 12, 2020, at his home. He had been fighting pancreatic cancer, but death was unexpected. He was born September 1, 1942 the son of the late Clinton Raymond “Bud” Pingley and Mildred Kathleen “Katie” Pingley. David was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1960, and Davis & Elkins College. He excelled in academics and sports, lettering in basketball, football and track. He was selected Outstanding Senior Boy, second string All State Quarterback, attended Boys State, and served as captain of the basketball and football teams. He continued playing football at the collegiate level at Davis & Elkins College graduating with a degree in Business Management. He started his career as an accountant for Mon Power progressing through the positions and retiring as a manager in 1999 after thirty three plus years of service. During his twenty one years of retirement, he kept busy taking care of his mother “Katie”, playing golf, going to turkey and deep camps, riding his side-by-side, helping his wife Connie in her Real Estate business, caring for his lawn, collecting sports cards, and enjoying his kids and grandkids. He is survived by his wife Connie of thirty seven years; sons, Timothy William “Tim” Pingley (Jackie), Vienna, WV, Drew Clinton Pingley (Denae), Morgantown, WV, daughter, Kathleen Ruth “Kathi” Gaddy (Chris), Chester, SC; step-son, Vincent Thomas “Vinnie” Zummo (Kelly), Bridgeport, WV and a brother, William Joseph “Bill” Pingley of Elkins.. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Mason and Zoe Pingley, Katie, Noah and Colby Gaddy, Emma Pingley, Gabe and Dominic Zummo and his two special miniature schnauzers, Braxton and Brodie. Due to the Covid-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241, Elks Golf Course, P. O. Box 1210, Elkins, WV 26241 or to a charity of choice in memory of Dave. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for David Howard “Dave” Pingley.
