David Hyre, 84, of Columbia, S.C., died Sunday, June 2, 2002.
Mr. Hyre was born in Elkins, a son of the late Albert and Cynthia Weese Hyre
Surviving are one daughter, DiAnna Hyre, Columbia, S.C.; one son, Stephen Earle Hyre of Greenville, Ind.; two grandsons, Davis Oliver Hyre and Hamilton Joseph Hyre, both of Charlestowne, Ind.; and one brother, Clifford Hyre of Elkins.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II and Korea, retiring after 30 years of service. Upon his retirement he worked as a meat inspector with the Clemson Extension Service.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the graveside in Greenlawn Memorial Park, with military honors. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today in Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, Columbia, S.C. Memorials may be made to Pets, Inc., 300 Orchard Drive, West Columbia, S.C. 29170. A tribute has been established to celebrate the life of Mr. Hyre.
