Mr. David Lee Golden Sr., age 71, a resident of Belington, departed this life Sunday November 22, 2020 at his home. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born January 2, 1949 at Philippi, WV, a son of the late Bruce and Omah Carder Golden. On June 13, 1973 at Hot Springs, VA, he was united in marriage to the former Evelyn Bell Cutright who survives at their home in Belington.
Also surviving are his three children; David L. Golden Jr. of Belington, Crystal Jamison and husband Timothy of Philippi, and Richard Golden of Princeton, grandson; Cody Golden and wife Cammie of Philippi, who he loved like a son, twin brother; Danny Golden of Belington, half-brothers; John Roberson and Patrick Roberson both of Cleveland, Ohio, sisters; Chris Bash and Amy Morrow both of Cleveland, Ohio. Additional survivors include ten grandchildren; Garrett Lantz Sr., Dylan Schoonover, Chase Schoonover, Trevor Schoonover, Makenzie Schoonover, Savannah Jamison, Jessica Golden, Karra Golden, Leland Golden, and Eli Golden and several other grandchildren, great grandchildren; Braxton Golden, Remi Schoonover, and Garrett Lantz Jr.
David attended the schools of Barbour County and was owner and operator of Golden’s Roofing for 20 years. He was a proud Veteran of the US Army serving in the Vietnam War and he was a lifetime member of the VFW Laurel Mountain Post # 410 in Belington. He was a protestant by faith and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private family viewing will be at the Talbott Funeral Home 56 N. Brandenburg Street in Belington on Friday November 27, 2020. Graveside services will follow at 1pm in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington with Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the US Army and The American Legion Post #96 of Belington.
Interment will then follow. Due to the Governor’s recent order face coverings are required and social distancing is recommended while paying your respects in the funeral home.
