David Shawn Calain 1983-2021 Obituary
David Shawn Calain, age 38 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born Wednesday, February 2, 1983 at Elkins, WV a son of Edward H. “Ed” Calain of Elkins, WV and companion Karen Harper of Montrose, WV and Jacqueline R. “Jackie” Crawford Calain-Plum and husband Rob of Belington, WV. Also surviving are one sister, Kimberly Dawn “Kim” Bonnett and husband Brian of Elkins; two nephews, Connor and Declan Bonnett, both of Elkins; one aunt, Deborah Carr and husband Darius of Fayetteville; and several cousins.
Preceding him in death are his maternal grandparents, Mary Ellen and William Crawford and his paternal grandmother, Kathryn Louise Calain.
He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 2001, where he played football and baseball and attended Fairmont State University. David loved animals, and spending time with his dogs. He especially loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, kayaking and camping.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 10 AM to 11 AM. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 AM. The Reverend Terry A. Burgess will officiate and interment will follow at the Gethsemane Memorial Gardens at Oak Hill, WV.
