Delmar Lee Chips Harman Jr. 1937-2021 Obituary
Delmar Lee “Chips” Harman Jr., 83, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at home.
Chips was born Friday, May 28, 1937, in Elkins, a son of the late Delmar Harman and Regina Simpson Harman.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. On Sept. 12, 1960, he married the former Carolyn Phillips, who survives.
Also left to cherish his memory are four children, Philip Craig White and wife, Kelley, of Davis, Alan Harman of Annapolis, Maryland, Debra Pritchard and husband, John, of Jessup, Maryland, and Donna Haney and husband, Bruce, of Clarksville, Maryland; three grandchildren, Joshua White and Lauren and Matthew Haney.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was one sister, Sarah C. Harman Miller.
Chips attended the schools of Randolph County and then proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1955 until 1963.
He had served on the NSS Destroyer 341 Escort and the U.S. Huntington S.D. 781 Destroyer.
Chips retired from his business, Harman Fence Company, in 2003. He loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday, Jan, 8, 2021, at noon in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.
Rev. Kent Price will officiate and interment will follow at which time members of H.W. Daniels Post No. 29, American Legion, Tygart Valley Post No. 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Navy Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
