Mr. Delmas Lee Pitzer, age 78, a resident of Belington and a resident of the Talbott Personal Care Home in Belington, departed this life Thursday Nov. 26, 2020, in the care facility. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born June 27, 1942, at Moatsville, a son of the late Roy Lee and Mary Pearl Scott Pitzer.
He is survived by two brothers, George Dale Pitzer of Columbia, Kentucky, and Edward Arnold Pitzer and wife, Laura June Marks Pitzer, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.; a Special niece, Linda Ruth Pitzer of Belington; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five siblings, infant Mary Elizabeth Pitzer, Lois Pitzer Majoris, Wanita Ruth Pitzer Wright, Roy Ellis Pitzer and Robert Neil Pitzer.
Mr. Pitzer attended the schools of Barbour County and was a member of the Belington Church of the Nazarene, where he had served on various boards and was a former Sunday school superintendent, taught Sunday school classes, and even drove the bus for the church.
Delmas and his niece, Linda, enjoyed hunting and fishing together. Many hours were spent on the lakes and rivers in West Virginia trying to catch the big one, or call in the long beard, or see that wild wonderful elusive buck.
Mr. Pitzer was a retired manager from the McDonald’s Restaurant Corporation, lastly employed with the Elyria, Ohio, restaurant.
He was a devout Christian and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private family visitation will be held at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington on Saturday Dec. 5, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Danny Linger officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Morris Cemetery near Kasson.
