Delores “Jo” Adamy 1942-2022 Obituary
Delores “Jo” Adamy, age 79, of Thomas, WV, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 12, 2022, at the Garrett Regional Medical Center. She was born July 27, 1942, in Pocahontas County, WV, a daughter of the late Alvie and Dollie Vandevender Goff.
On September 16, 1961, she married Paul E. Adamy and they had a son, Michael Adamy, an adopted son, Shawn Christopher Adamy. On January 12, 1988, they divorced, and she never remarried. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Vandevender. She is survived by a son, Michael Adamy and wife Jennifer Adamy of Lake Frederick, VA; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; an adopted son, Shawn Christopher Adamy of French Creek, WV; two sisters, Susie King of Martinsburg, WV and Janie Hedrick of Davis, WV; a brother, David Goff of Mt. Clair, WV and many nephews and nieces.
Jo Adamy was a devout Christian and President of the West Virginia Women Christian Temperance Union. She was member of the Thomas United Methodist Church where she gained great pleasure from children ministries, organizing vacation bible schools, and Christmas programs. She worked as a Senior Companion at Cortland Acres where she enjoyed sharing her love for God. She had a special love that not many people are humble enough or happy enough to give. A special light went out in the sky with Jo’s passing, but now shines bright in heaven.
A celebration of her life will be held at Thomas United Methodist Church on April 2, 2022, at 11 am to share her Christian Testimony and honor her last wishes she wanted to share with her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to West Virginia Caring Hospice Care 169 Diamond St Elkins, WV 26241.
