Dennis Paul P.J. Zickefoose 1971-2003 Obituary
Dennis Paul “P.J.” Zickefoose, DDS, 32, a resident of Montrose, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Jan. 15, 1971, in Elkins, the son of Paul L. and Barbara Ann Lewis Zickefoose, who survive in Elkins.
On March 10, 2003, he was married to the former Michelle Marie Large, who survives in Montrose.
Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Mildred Lewis of Buckhannon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
P.J. was a graduate of Elkins High School in 1989 and a 1992 graduate of Fairmont State College with a bachelor of science degree in biology.
He graduated from the West Virginia University School of Dentistry in 1997 and became a general practice resident in 1998, serving at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Monongalia General Hospital and the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital.
He practiced for five years at the Davis Dental Service at Davis prior to opening his private practice in Elkins in April 2003.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association, American Dental Association and the West Virginia Dental Association.
P.J. was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a ski instructor at Canaan Valley Ski Resort n 2000.
He was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church of Elkins.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald L. Lockhart officiating. Interment will follow in the Lanham Cemetery at Queens, Upshur County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 2291 W. Broadway, Missoula, Mont. 59808 or a charity of choice in memory of P.J.
