Denzil E. “Rooster” Arbogast, 80, a former resident of the Ward Road, Elkins and Baltimore City, and a recent resident of Twin Oaks Road, Severn, Md., for 35 years, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2002, at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past six month.
He was born Oct. 15, 1921, at Elkins, a son of the late Benjamin and Amanda Sacks Arbogast.
He was united in marriage to the former Margaret R. Arbogast, who preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1994, and at the time of her death, they had been married for 52 years.
He is survived by three sons, Denzil “Denny” Arbogast of Elkins, Roger Lee Arbogast of Severn, Md., and Garry Rex Arbogast of Hanover, Md.; one daughter, Elizabeth Marie Lambert of Severn, Md.
He also raised five foster children, Margaret, Betty, Richard, Beverly and Lisa; one brother, Charles Arbogast of Severn, Md.; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were one brother, John Arbogast; two sisters, Virgie Ferguson and Helen Henry; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
He was employed at Bethlehem Steel Corp at Key Hwy., Baltimore, Md. as a welder and burner for more than 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved working on and buying antique cars and trucks, which he restored. He was also a recycler, having walked everyday, picking up cans. He was a Pentecostal by faith.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Vernard Tasker, pastor of the Church of God of Prophecy will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.
