DON LEE “HOLLYWOOD” ARBOGAST, JR., age 53 years, a resident of Elkins, WV departed this life Thursday morning, April 22, 2010 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, WV with his wife by his side, while battling Burkitt’s Lymphoma for the past three weeks. Death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Monday, February 11, 1957 at Elkins, WV the only son of Barbara Arbogast Fuhrman and Jack Fuhrman of Elkins and the late Don L. Arbogast, Sr. On February 11, 2000, he was happily married to the former Cynthia Pyles Arbogast of Elkins, whom he deeply loved. He was a loving father of two sons, Logan C. Arbogast, at home and Ethan Q. Arbogast of Tyler County, two step-daughters, whom he thought of as his own, Courtney R. McCoy and Jenifer M. McCoy, both at home and a daughter, Crystal Arbogast, VA. Also surviving are two sisters, whom he dearly loved, Vickie Plum and husband Dale, and Cathy Langevin and husband Alan, all of Elkins, one niece, Jessica Plum, Elkins, two nephews, Kyle Langevin, Elkins, Kirkland Pyles, Bridgeport, his grandfather, Roy Mac Teter, Elkins, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Don was a graduate of Elkins High School with the Class of 1976, where he was a member of the football squad. He was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard in 1977 and graduated from the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy in 1981 and again in 1983. He was a member of the Elkins Lodge # 108, A. F. & A. M.
He was previously employed by the Caroline County Sheriff’s Department before moving back to Elkins. From the late 1980’s thru early 1990’s he worked as a crew supervisor and GSYP Coordinator for the Governor’s Summer Youth Program at the West Virginia Department of Highways District 8. He was previously employed for RCDI Apartment Projects as a Maintenance Man in the early 1990’s. He was a Randolph County Schools Bus Driver for fourteen years, had formerly worked as an attendant at the F. E. Runner Funeral Home in the past and at the time of his death was employed at the Elkins Holiday Inn Express as a maintenance man. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and leaves behind many friends, too numerous to mention. He will be sadly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 PM, Wednesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 12 Noon. The Reverend Charles L. Stevens will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville, WV where the H. W. Daniel’s Post # 29 American Legion and the Tygart’s Valley Post # 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military rites and the Elkins Lodge # 108, A. F. & A. M. will conduct Masonic graveside rites. The Lohr & Barb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for DON LEE “HOLLYWOOD” ARBOGAST, JR.
