Donal Reed Hamrick, 86, a resident of the St. George community, passed from this life Friday, February 10, 2012 at the Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Elkins. He was born Friday, February, 22, 1925 in Clay County, WV, a son of the late Lee and Glenna Hamrick. He attended the schools of Clay County, was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II, and had retired as an asbestos worker with Local Union #84 in Akron, OH. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a protestant by faith. Donal is survived by two sons, Lee Hamrick of Parsons and Gary Smith of Akron, OH , a daughter, Robin Barnett of Akron , OH , four grandchildren James D. Hamrick, Ryan L. Hamrick, Kathryn Barnett and Thomas Barnett, three grandchildren, Ashlee, Dylan, and Nikolai. He was preceded in death by a companion of several years, Betty Smith. Visitation will held at the Summerfield Funeral Home of Parsons on Friday, February 17, 2012 from 11AM until 1PM, the funeral hour. The Reverend Neal Precht will officiate and interment will follow at the Limestone Cemetery where members of the H.W. Daniels Post #29, American Legion, the Tygart Valley Post #3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Tucker County Vietnam Veterans Association will conduct full military honors.
