DONALD EUGENE KNOTTS, age 64 years, a resident of the Sugarlands Community, Hambleton, WV departed this life Monday evening, August 26, 2013 at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins, WV. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Saturday, March 19, 1949 at Thomas, WV, a son of the late Junior Ray Knotts and Cornell Elizabeth Gooding Knotts, who survives at the Sugarlands Community. On May 29, 1971 at Thomas, WV, he was married to the former Clarice Lee Bennett, who survives. They had celebrated forty two years of marriage.
Also surviving are two daughters, Melanie Dawn Lloyd and husband Glenn “Butch” of Bayard, WV, Karen Elizabeth Hoffert and husband Rudy of Fairmont, WV; two brothers, Robert Andrew Knotts and wife Jeannie of Stanton, VA, Timothy Paul Knotts of Sugarlands; two sisters, Elizabeth Rae Evans and husband “Jack” of Knoxville, TN; Geraldine P. Auvil and husband Dave of Haywood, WV; and three granddaughters, Megan, Emily and Abbey.
Preceding him in death is one infant son, Donald Eugene Knotts, Jr.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1967, where he was a member of the F.F.A. He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills, the former Parsons Tannery and the Firestone Store. He was a former employee of the Kingsford Charcoal Company working in quality control, with over thirty five years of service, and he was a beekeeper and a farmer, and was known for his egg delivery route. He was a member of the Hendricks Ruritan Club for several years and a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. He enjoyed flowers, especially morning glories and dahlia’s.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11:30AM. The Rev. Philip Dent will officiate and interment will follow at the Sugarlands Cemetery at Sugarlands.
