OBITUARY: DORIS JANE MITCHELL Doris Jane Mitchell, 71, of Cole Street, Philippi, died Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012, at her home, following an extended illness. She was born November 12, 1941, at Clemtown, a daughter of the late Harold Lee and Mabel Ethel (Cox) Poe. On November 28, 1959, she was married to Elmer D. Mitchell, who preceded her in death on December 11, 1987. Surviving are one daughter, Penny Sue Duckworth, and husband, Jesse, one son, Johnny Lee Mitchell and wife Fredericka, all of Philippi; four grandsons, Justin Allen Duckorth, Mitchell Allen Duckworth, Jonathan Frederick Dwain Mitchell and Michael Lee Middleton Mitchell, all of Philippi; one great grandnson, Sidney Allen Dwain Duckworth, Philippi; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a two brothers, William L. Poe and Edman R. Poe and by an infant sister, Edna Mae Poe. Mrs. Mitchell was a Licensed Practical Nurse and retired from the Grafton City Hospital. She was a former employee of the Broaddus Hospital and the Myers Clinic. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 22, 2012, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi. Elder Wilfred Barbosa will officiate and interment will follow in the Clemtown Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00 until 9:00 P.M. on Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M., the funeral hour, on Saturday.
