Dorothy Mae Rose Riggleman, age 85 years, a resident of Valley Head, WV departed this life early Tuesday morning, July 6, 2010 at the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center .
She was born Sunday, February 8, 1925 at Monterville, WV a daughter of the late George Silas Rose and Lydia May Hogan Rose. On June 15, 1946 at Quinwood, WV she was married to Edgar Glen Riggleman, who preceded her in death February 20, 1989. Surviving are one son, Edsel Glen Riggleman and wife Sandra, Valley Head; five sisters, Roxie Martin, Elyria, OH; Mamie Hamrick, Webster Springs; Vallie McDaniel, Nitro; Mary Leary, Beverly; Gatha Fogylano, Elyria, OH; two grandchildren, Bradley Scott Riggleman, VA; Dana Lynn Paternoster, MD; two great grandchildren, Shelby Riggleman, VA; Apollo Paternoster, MD.
Preceding her in death are four brothers, William “Dale”, John “Hale”, Robert, and George “Bud” Rose, II, and one great granddaughter, Emily Sea Paternoster.
She attended the one room school at Monterville and Tygart’s Valley High School, and she was a member of the Mingo Methodist Church of which she was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was a noted cook, an avid reader, enjoyed needle work and was a volunteer care giver of the community.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 7 PM, Thursday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11 AM. The Rev. Eddie Kyle will officiate and interment will follow at the Riggleman Family Cemetery at Point Mountian.
