Dorothy Marie Lantz, age 82, of Annapolis, MD died on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis. She was born August 19, 1929 in Moundsville, WV, a daughter of the late Arthur Wilbert and Isabelle Sarah Crangle Earnest. In 1952 she married Leon Lantz, who preceded her in death in 1996 and in 2004 she married Robert Papp who preceded her in death in 2011. She is survived by three sons, Leon “Butch” Lantz, II and wife Marsha Marie of Sykesville, MD, Lynn E. Lantz and wife Rebecca Louise of Sykesville, and Larry Michael Lantz and Kathy Giacalone of Kensington, MD; one grandson, David Lantz of West Minster, MD; three granddaughters, Sarah Marie Lantz of Columbia, MD, Rebecca Lantz of Laurel, MD and Madison Lantz of Sykesville; one step grandson, Robert Anthony of Baltimore, MD; one step granddaughter, Erica Canada of Baltimore and one sister, Norma Lee Walters of Huntsville, AL. Mrs. Lantz was an art educator in the Upshur County Schools starting in 1962; Chairman of the Art Department in Buckhannon Upshur Middle School starting in 1977; art educator at WVWC; member staff development council Upshur County Board of Education in 1977, county advisory council in 1986 and county art coordinator in 1986. She was on the Board Directors of the American Red Cross of Upshur County from 1960-1961; a director of the Strawberry Festival Pre-preview in Buckhannon, WV 1961-62, a member International Society Of Artists, American Association of University Women, Professional Educators Association, National Education Association (del. to national convention), West Virginia Education Association, Upshur County Education Association (past president), Delta Kappa Gamma (past president) and General Federation Women’s Club (junior department, past president, state secretary). Friends will be received Friday, March 9, 2012 from 4-8 PM at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 2 PM on Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ellis Conley officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
