Doyle Clarence Hardy, 85, of Fork Mountain, near Parsons, died Dec. 10, at home. He had been in his usual health and death was attributed to congestive heart failure.

He was born July 23, 1916, at Shavers Fork, a son o the late Ed W. and Jane Rebecca Hawkins Hardy. On Feb. 3, 1943 at St. Louis MO, He was married to the former Wanda Louise Parsons, who preceded him in death April 30, 1989.

Surviving are a son, James W. (and Mary) Hardy, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Dorothy Ellen “Dottie” Hardy Shockey, and Martha Ann “Marty” (and Gary) Flanagan, all of Elkins; a sister, Mary Carr, Hendricks; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers, Cleland, Oscar, Roy, George, Daniel, Johnny, Sammy Ray, Mero and Claude Hardy; three sisters, Effie Arbogast, Lillie Smith and infant, Diasy Hardy.

He attended the one room school at Shavers Fork, the two room school at St. George, and the scools of Randolph County. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp., drove tractor trailer for the US Forest Service, served with the US Army during World War II, was a cook for Hinebaugh’s Restaurant in Parsons, was a cabdriver for Freddie Griffith, worked for the City of Parsons and for the Tucker County Board of Education as a school bus driver, worked for the Armour Leather Tannery Company at Parsons and retired from the Dorman Mills Woolen Company at Parsons. He was a member of the Parsons Church of God.

Friends were received at the Barb-Greenlief Funeral Home where final rites were conducted Dec. 15. Pastor Eli Hostetler officiated. Interment followed at the Parsons City Cemetery.
