Earl Duane Holbert, 65, a resident of Route 4, (Mt. Liberty community) Philippi, passed away at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 24, 1936, at Philippi, a son of the late Earl Clyde and Freda A. Mackey Holbert.
He was united in marriage to the former Donna L. Wiles, who preceded him in death in 1982.
Surviving are four sons, Lesley W. Holbert, Omaha, Neb., Danny C. Holbert, Mt. Liberty community, Philippi, Billy W. Holbert, Union community, Philippi, and Denny E. Holbert, Belington; one sister, Loraine Rohr, Springfield, Ill.; one brother, Sherwood Holbert, Parkersburg; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lester, Dwight, Ralph and Milford Holbert; and one sister, Thelma Kirkpatrick.
Mr. Holbert was a roof bolter for Badger Coal Co. He was a member of Laurel Mountain VFW Post 410.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 6 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Evangelist R.D. Ice officiating.
