Edgar Allen Hare 1916-2002 Obituary
Edgar Allen Hare, 86, a resident of Frostburg, Md., passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his home. He had been in failing health for the past several months and his death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Aug. 19, 1916, in Monongahela, Pa., the son of the late Daniel and Laura Penrod Hare.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wyona Emma Eleanor Waltermeyer Hare, on June 7, 1968.
He was later married to Estella Jacobs Hare, who survives in Frostburg.
Also surviving are two sons, Burton Hare and wife, Sue, Pasadena, Md., and Keith Hare and wife, Elizabeth, Elkins; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Hare, Elkins; a brother, Stanley Hare, Falling Waters, Md.; a sister, Ruth Farmer, Glen Rock, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Linda Davis, Diane “Dee” VanPelt, Birch Hare Jr., and Burton “Skip” Hare Jr., all of Elkins, Terri Brown and Adam Hare of Pasadena, Md., Kevin Hare, Thurmont, Md., and Benjamin Hare, Kirkland, Wash.; eight great-grandchildren, Marlena, Debbie and Allen Davis, and Alexis Hare, all of Elkins, Richard Brown and Brittany Brown, both of Pasadena, Md., Tyler Zahn and Garrett Hare, both of Thurmont, Md., and one great-great-grandchild, Aaliyah Isner.
Also preceding him in death were one son, Burch Hare; one daughter, Debbie Hare; one sister, Eva Walter; and two brothers, Daniel Hare and Ervin Hare.
Mr. Hare was a retired minister of the Potomac District Assembly of God and ministered at Pocomoke City, Md., Glen Burnie, Md., Shookstown, Md., Sierra Vista, Ariz., Chaneysville, Pa., Buckhannon and Dry Fork, and built and ministered at the First Assembly of God Church on Wilson Street in Elkins.
He was an accomplished pianist for 50 years and was a machinist by trade.
Friends were be received at the Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Md., from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at the Trinity Assembly of God Church in Midlothian, Md. The Rev. Blair and the Rev.
Rhoden will officiate and interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Garrett County Inc., P.O. Box 271, Oakland, Md., 21550, in memory of Mr. Hare.
