Edgar “Tater” Maynard Daniels 1968-2022 Obituary
Edgar “Tater” Maynard Daniels, Jr, 53, a resident of Columbus, Ohio, passed from this life on Friday, January 7, 2022. He had been in declining health for the past five months.
Tater was born Tuesday, December 24, 1968, in Parsons, a son of Edgar “Eddie” Maynard Daniels, Sr., and Sharon Anne Kisamore Daniels.
Left to cherish Tater’s memory besides his parents are uncles and aunts, Sandy Kisamore of St. George, David and Judy Kisamore of Parsons, Karen and Richard Moyer of Fairmont, Kay Scott of Elkins, Mary and Kenneth Summerfield of Mill Creek, Paul and Joyce Finchman of Newton Falls, OH, Donald and LaJuaua Daniels of Artesis, NM, cousins, Benny Kisamore, Stephanie Fitzwater, Cody Kisamore, Davy Kisamore, Sherry Croasmun, Jessica Currence, Roger Daniels, Amie Novisky, Lee Moyers, Matt Summerfield, Ashley Ward, Ryan Finchman, and Derrick Hoffman.
Preceding Tater in death were his grandparents, Dice Harper Kisamore, Lena Gertrude Sturms Kisamore, Maynard Howard Daniels, Waneda Jane Mills Daniels and step-grandmother, Pauline Finchman Daniels, two uncles, Ben Kisamore and George Scott, a cousin, Donald Daniels.
Ed, “Tater” attended the Parsons Nazarene Church as a young boy and accepted the Lord. He loved to attend and be a part of all the activities such as Sunday School, Children’s Church and VBS. He was also a part of the church quizzing program. Tater enjoyed all the outings of the church and never wanted to miss any of them. He would attend summer church camps at the Nazarene Church Camp in Summersville which influenced him to serve in the local church. As he moved into his teen years, he was committed to the Lord and his work. He helped with children’s church and VBS. When it came time for him to choose a college, he decided on Mt. Vernon Nazarene College, now Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, and off to Ohio he went, and Ohio became his home. Over all the years of being gone, he always considered the Parsons Nazarene Church his home church.
As a member of one of the founding families of the Ride-n-High Saddle Club, Tater was riding horses even before he could walk. Alongside his father, Eddie Daniels, and his grandfather, Dice Kisamore, he could be seen at the club picnics and trail rides, the fireman’s parades, and most notably, the Hick Festival.
Horses were a big part of Tater’s 4-H career, where he completed the entire equine series. He showed his quarter pony, San Bar Satan, in the local 4-H horse shows. As a lifetime 4-Her, Tater attended state 4-H camps. He was inducted into the State 4-H All Stars and served on the state committee to preserve the 4-H and All-Star heritage.
Tater’s employment history was Leisure Time Video Store in Parsons, camp counselor at Camp Horseshoe, childcare, Party City, Hickory Farms, Goodwill Rehabilitation Center, Pet Smart, Banfield Pet Hospital and another clinic in the Columbus area. He loved working for Banfield as he cared passionately for his patients and had a wonderful working relationship with his co-workers. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
