Edith D. Slaughter, age 92, of Buckhannon, WV, died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at the Country Living Personal Care Home in Jane Lew, WV. She was born November 10, 1919 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late June and Grace Fettro Jarvis. On April 13, 1941 she married Harold D. Slaughter who preceded her in death on November 7, 1981. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Wade, Frank and Oran Jarvis; five sisters, Mary Louise Post, Opal Jarvis, Evelyn Bailey, Alta Joyce and Ruth White. She is survived by one son, Harold D. Slaughter of Martinsburg, WV and one granddaughter, Jill Slaughter of Frederick, MD. She had worked at Stone & Thomas for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at the Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home Friday, February 3, 2012 from 6-8 PM. A funeral service will be held 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Steven Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery. Poling-st. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
