Edward Carl “Sonny” Knotts, 65, a resident of Leadmine, passed from this life Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at home and under the care of Mountain Hospice.
Sonny was born Wednesday, April 20, 1955, in Parsons, a son of the late Bernard Knotts and Katherine Watring Knotts.
On Sept. 28, 1978, in Oakland, Maryland, he married the former Carolyn Denise Hebb, who preceded him in death on July 24, 2020.
Left to cherish Sonny’s memory is one son, Justin Ross Knotts, two sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Hottle of Leadmine and Sandra Owens of Location, two grandchildren, Ichigo and Lanaya Knotts.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife, was one daughter, Jamie Lynn Knotts Moon.
Sonny was a graduate of Parsons High School and had worked for many years as a coal miner. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and riding his side by side. He also enjoyed his John Deere tractor and spending time tinkering around with it.
Sonny’s request for cremation will be honored. Interment will follow at a later date in the Watring Family Cemetery on Hog Back Road.
