Edward F. Smith 1919-2002 Obituary
Edward F. Smith, 84, a resident of the Kings Run Road, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born Sept. 11, 1919, in Elkins, the son of the late Fay and Samantha Hicks Smith.
On May 10, 1941, he was married to Agatha Chewning Smith, who survives near Elkins.
Also surviving is one daughter, Mary Hood, Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Norman Smith, Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Mildred Hannum and Catherin Bosworth, both of Elkins; three grandchildren; Melvin Hood III, Jerry Hood and Sheila Murray; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Raymond, Robert and Leslie Smith; and a sister, Mary Antczak.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was employed as an engineer for the Canton Railroad in Baltimore, Md., prior to his retirement.
He was a member of the Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald L. Fitzwater officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
